Christmas, time for reflection

After almost 3 years, it has become (on Christmas seasson) a tradition here at the Siebel Resources blog to take time to share my thoughts.

Recently, I was getting answers to focus on the question: Profession is just a job or lifestyle? And here are my lucubrations on this...

On our journey through life, I think that our roadmap should be based on a consistent education. More and more, the rise of creativity and developing innovation relies on our education and professional background. And that means that a profession is closer to lifestyle than simply a job, because of the constant individual involvement level.

Anyway I think that's so complex, I wonder if professional structures in a regional labour market influences the choice of education and profession. And I think obviously so, we are conditioning on the labour market. In addition, I notice that the essence of each region is nowadays missing, that means talk about new concepts such as job mobility, globalization and so on.

There is an expression found in the letters of Isaac Newton: "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."

As a conclusion, I believe that each region can be identified by activities which are the lifeblood of each specific region. In another words, obviously there are innumerable disciplines, but each region is a source of focused expertise (such as Centers of Excellence), so I think that's no sense lose the product of generations of efforts  because of economy, in particular capitalism. Within a concret context, What i would mean by it, is that I come from a region where the textil industry was the root, and nothing make me saddier than realize that my region is unable to offer competitive “just in time” products.

In general, low quality imports are cheaper to produce, and it works in the era of Consummation within short term use. Anyway, not only destroy local competitors’ product, but also destroy regional production system and acumulative knowledge.

If you ask me we should not waste our ancestors' efforts, don’t let the giant die, standing on the shoulder of consummerism.

Bon Nadal i bona entrada al 2013.

Its time to welcome 2012 and evaluate 2011

Thanks to this blog, I have the opportunity now to reach hundreds and thousands of people, talking about CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems, emphasising alignment of “operational” CRM software for supporting business and “analytical” CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software for supporting decisions.
In this article let me briefly talk about an issue that I think that’s so interesting to share: Values.

Values refers to abstract concepts, anyway I believe that values also refers basic concepts related to life that everybody needs elaborate in private.

In other words, I believe that the importance of values is one of the main adult skill acquisition. For instance, the value of compromise: as it’s well known, it’s easier to change our mind constantly, anyway evolves imply not only take decisions but also be responsible for our own decisions; and without “compromise value” nothing works...

Perhaps words such as ‘compromise’, ‘loyalty’, ‘respect’ or ‘honesty’ sounds currently old-fashioned, anyway this is the crux of the matter, and here is the question: is the society ready/well prepared to elaborate personal values?

Best wishes for 2012,
Joan.

As times goes

Nothing makes me happier than notice that this blog is visited by people from several countries and that really encourages me.

Another year is over (2010), anyway life is life and after all I learnt that the best way to get along is to work hard, trying to avoid surprises and keeping things under control. Once again, let me talk about my particular rules: go step by step with experience and patience. To sum up: all requires efford and time, nothing else...

I devote so time during several years as a consultant and that let me realize how importan is a person work as a part of a team. As it's well known, a team that works involves different skills. Not only skills but also requires persons and only once you are at a bad moment you really realize if you also are on a bad place.

New year wishes is an easy way for me to express my happiness and once again hope that this blog brings with it knowledge and understanding to Siebel Consultants.

Best wishes.
Joan Martí.
